What color to paint our kitchen?

It is a 'walkthru' kitchen w/ darkish maple cabinets. Will also be tiling the floor...I am thinking a shade of burgundy.

Answers:    The path you phrased your question is confusing - are you considering burgundy tile or burgundy paint? Either one would look apposite. I love darker colored kitchens - they look fashionable & classy, like you're contained by a coffee shop or nice nightclub/restaurant.

Are you tiling the floor a burgundy?

I come up with you should do paint it a medium to slightly dusk blue. If the cabinets are the color I'm thinking they are, blue will look really nice next to them. It will also look really nice with a healthy-looking floor.
A small room looks even smaller with shade colors.
I may be biased with my big kitchen, but it is the heart of my home, and I enjoy always made it thankful, cheerful colors.
It is bright canary yellow right in a minute!
u could paint it light brown or green hurricane lantern OK but not Burgundy

good luck drawing
never paint a kitchen any colors that are not found in food.
for example, bright blue would not work because no food is bright blue (blueberries don't count).
don't opt for bright reds, oranges, washed out, purple, etc.
your kitchen is more suitable for a tuscan theme.
you want a contrast between the maple and the wall, so yes, burgundy would be an excellent choice. I would also suggest a reddish-purple or a dark suntan.
if you are more adventurous, maybe an olive green or salmon color would work in good health.
:)
Burgundy would make the kitchen give the impression of being even smaller.
For my kitchen to make it appear bright and also to compliment my oak cupboards, I painted it a pale washed out the same shade as the golden highlights contained by the oak.
Yellow always seem to make a kitchen look brighter and since you do still spend closely of time in nearby between cooking and cleaning, you want a bright cheerful room. If you are really fond of burgundy, you could always move about with a faded pink and give it burgundy accent.
Ususally, walk through [ galley ] kitchens are pretty small, and burgundy will breed it look even smaller; especially with 'darkish' cabinet.
Suggest using a light sunburn, beige, or restrained gray for the flooring.
Then add the color within the walls - usually the 'cook's fav color' in a desk light shade:
rose
peach or coral
banana or light lemon
mint or palm leaf green
aqua or sky blue
lavender
white or ivory
Then repeat the colors in a print for the curtains /valences, and table linens - placemats, cloth, or centerpiece.
