What's the best way to fund the restoration of an old town hall?

It's on the National Registry. Would need about $500,000.

Answers:
Ask the major industries and/or business houses in your city, to wholly (or partially) sponsor the restoration - in return for which, a permanent plaque/plaques will be placed on prominent display, as a record of their contribution(s).
Organise a fund-raiser show, after roping-in the free participation of celebrities who have their roots in your city [they usually waive their performing fee, but expect their travel. boarding, and lodging expenses to be taken care of !].
Get the Restoration Committee to launch a fund-raiser Lottery, or Raffle - in which 25% of the total collections will be given away as prizes - while 75% will go into the fund.
Just these should be more than enough to raise $ 500,000/- !
