Any suggestion on how to cover up this eyesore?
This so call fire place is a total disaster and can seem to find a solution to cover it up?
Anyone hold any suggestions, ideas, for this living room which I want it to own a contemporary feel to it.

Answers: The craftmanship surrounded by that room is gorgeous. Do not cover that up. If you don't like the fireplace and can't or won't use it, once the room is finished and adjectives the detail work is complete, clean and paint the inside of the fireplace as you do the rest of the room, and place a huge plant in the fireplace hole.

Seriously, this is a gem...don't cover it up, I would freshly plaster it so it looks like limestone.
