Re-doing my windows and was wondering what are good blinds to buy?

Answers:
I depends on what you want to do, cut heat, sunfade, keep heat in, add to your decor? Hunter Douglas makes good blinds, with great warranties. Levelor, Kirsch and Graeber, do too. Look for lifetime warranties like HD offers, they will replace slats or mechanics that fail over time. Do not remove the sticker or piece of paper from the headrail. Often consumer's lose their original sales receipt. On that paper or sticker the manufacturer can tell where and when the product was made, the model, style, color, serial number and other information you will need to make a warranty claim.

Budget Blinds usually cannot be beat price wise. But don't expect great customer service after the sale, deal directly with the manufacturer.

If you want to spend a little money I would suggest faux wood blinds from Home Depot. They look nice, they'll last, and they won't fade in the sun. They're the most popular blinds and they can be cut down at the store to fit your windows.

We have a "Re Store" here in town that takes building and remodeling donations.I just bought 93 in. brand name blinds still in the box for $35 an outlet charges $140.00-I would check any thrift stores for bargains
you may get lucky.
I wanted to block out as much sun as possible so my mother-in-law suggested shutters.

The BEST investment! We did not go with wood shutters though. They were too expensive. The ones we chose have a lifetime warranty as well.

FYI . . . I researched many companies and called Lowe's on a whim. I actually spoke with the same guy I called the day before at another company. (He told me Lowe's outsources. I got them cheaper through the other company.)

Just a suggestion. Good luck!
Consider the style, size, and shape of the window, and what you want the curtains for. Think about the room, its proportions and what it’s used for, the upholstery, and accessories. Curtains can be hung from rods in a number of ways.

Although most are functional rather than stylish, some decorative types are available. The right choice will not only enhance the window but also turn an ordinary room into a really special place.

Here are ten household helpful hints for choosing curtains:

1. Match curtain fabric with upholstery to unify space that seems untidy.

2. Use carpet to mark off space. A rug is ideal for establishing a social zone within a room.

3. Fabrics with classic patterns give a period feeling to the ambience of a room.

4. Remember that the bed linen, tablecloths, and towels also contribute to decoration.

5. Sheer curtain and gauze enable us to filter light.

6. Venetian blinds allow control over the amount of light entering a room.

7. Do not limit curtains and blinds to just windows. They can be used in an excessively long passage or hallway. Blinds make good screens.

8. In rooms with a lot of pictures, different colored walls, or furniture, it is suitable to use neutral tones for the curtains and upholstery.

9. Take advance of fabrics by using them to renovate your furniture.

10. Use rugs and tapestries as hanging on a wall. Their color and texture are unbeatable and they improve acoustics.
