Hardwood finishes?

The contractor came today and told me my floors are red pine and that I would own to go beside the colonial maple stain. I asked can I have them stained a lighter color he said no. Is this true?


Answers:    You can't peroxide wood with stain, singular darken it...

The only path to turn a dark pine floor, to a feathery color is to bleach it, which would be expensive , messy, and time consuming...

It would be cheaper to replace the floor..
You can't stain a floor to achieve a lighter color. You would stipulation to sand it, then apply a bleaching agent on the presently unfinished pine floors.

Ordinary domestic bleach scrub in and rinsed bad with verbs water will do closely to lighten a floor. You can also purchase stronger chemical bleaches which are applied contained by stages. These should be used in accordance next to the manufacturer’s instructions. Take care as the concentrated fumes can be dodgy. Wear a protective mask and open out all doors and window to ensure good freshening.

You can then apply a clear varnish on top to finish. :) It is a bit time consuming though and may require a bit of expertise to variety sure it is done properly.
