i have 2 brass lamps and a brass mirror, what kind of paint do i use to refinish ?

with S P I C and S P A N and Aluminum foil. It should brighten up nice.

You should never paint brass.You can purchase a product called BRASSO at your local hardware store.It removes the tarnish and restores the shine to brass..Try it im sure you will be well pleased with the end results.
If you want to keep the brass finish, just use Brasso to clean it. If the item is damaged and you want to change the entire look of it, try spray painting it. Use tape to cover the areas you do not want to painted or try this:
First you must clean and dry the piece. Next, you spray to cover the piece with a primer and when it is dry, you look for rough spots and smooth them out with a fine sand paper or steel wool. Primer again to cover. when primer is completely dry (about 2-4 hours), you can paint with any color water based paint. You may apply several layers of paint, making certain it dries in between sprays. Wait 24 hours, then apply a light coat of paint sealer. Semi gloss or flat is a great finish for a clean, professional look..
