Where can I find low priced carpet for my dorm room?
Answers:
You could buy a large area rug, try ikea, target, pier 1 etc - benefit you can take it with you.
Ask at carpet stores for remanants, they often have small room sizr pieces at a huge discount.
Other answers:
Home depot has cheap area carpets depending on the size. You could also try the "items for sale" section in the local paper. Used but very cheap and you could haggle.

Walmart is always a good source. Sounds cheezy but they can have good stuff. Or pottery barn for teens.
you can get a remnant at a carpet store, or some stores like target sells pieces of carpet around the time school starts for about 20 bucks
Most carpet stores have low cost remnants if you look around. If that's still too expensive run an ad on Craigs List asking if anyone is removing carpet still in good shape you could get free. Sometines what's throw away for some msy be just fine for you.
You might get lucky going to a carpet store and asking for a remnant. Your dorm room is probably fairly small, and you might get a piece left over from one of their larger orders, that wouldn't be easy for them to sell. Sometimes they will then bind the edges for a small charge.
Go to your local carpet shop and ask if they have any leftover pieces outback they are willing to sell you...
Try some yardsales...
Or you can always try eBay... Walmart orTarget
We bought several decent rugs from "Linens and Things". We got some on sale for significantly less than $100, including one with two matching rugs (different sized) bundled together. All of those 'home decorating stores' have frequent coupons in the paper (%20) to help make them even less expensive.
We also bought a great rug from "Tuesday Morning" (big size and a deep pile). We paid a lot ($300), but it would have cost 2 or 3 times that from Home Depot or another store. I am sure they will have something in your price range.
True, you can go to Home Depot or Walmart or Target and spend even $20 dollars on a piece of carpet but if you are anything like I was, you probably do not even have the $20 bucks to begin with....ugh! (It does get better...I promise!) So, this is how I put a rug down in my dorm room FOR FREE! And it looked amazing!
Give yourself some time as this may take a bit of driving (it did for me...but TOTALLY worth it! And PS I loved this look so much that I have recently did the same thing in my 2 year old daughters room) Go to flooring stores, carpet stores and/or outlets and even tile stores. You know the rectangle carpet samples that they have all around the stores, well they get thrown away! Find the manager and ask if he is discarding any samples..if so GRAB THEM! After a day of driving I got smart and called around first. Get tons and then go for it! It is fun and colorful and everything else that you need to decorate your room should be a solid color...it really looks amazing!
And when you have 9 months (like I did) and you know what the sex of your child is you can do a monochromatic scheme...good luck and let us know how you do.
