where is the best area for a crafter to consign her crafts?
Answers:
A lot depends on the type of crafts you make. Many states promote crafts made within the state. Kentucky has an aggressive program to market Kentucky made crafts worldwide and marketing help is available from the state government. Berea College in particular is heavily involved.
Traditional crafts such as quilting, candle and soap making, weaving, leather work, jewelry, and the like are much in demand although the quality must be high. Things like Popsicle stick and pipe cleaner stick figures are not going to make the grade.
Look for craft guilds in your state or ask for advice at your local crafts supply store. You should be able to find somewhere to take your crafts on consignment.
Good luck with your projects.

Try farmers' markets. Depending on what your crafts are, some hair salons will allow you to put up a (very) small display. I've seen earrings, bracelets. Recently I saw earrings with animal themes for sale in a vet's office. Look around for craft co-ops.
Good luck!
