i just hung one for my mother in law i cabled it into the wall to hold a 32" tv
I assume that they lean forward because of the hook used to fix them to the wall.
My suggestion would be to use a special metal insert that is made especially to attach shelves so they are flush to the wall. it is oval shaped with a key hole shape cutout from the middle of the piece.
it is approximately 1/16"thick by 5/8"wide and maybe 1 1/4"long.
You need to carve a recess into the back of your shelf brackets to allow for the metal plaque to become flush with the back of you bracket.
Since this is fixed to the wall with screws, you need to carve a space behind the keyhole shape deep enough to allow the screws to slide in.
Be sure to screw this plaque with the narrower part of keyhole aiming up on the bracket.
I've made myself a jig to carve out the space needed for the insert.
I hope I did'nt make it sound too complicated.
It looks great.
You can purchase these from woodworking stores or from your Lee Valley catalogue.
