what is a railroad style apartment?
Answers:
I've lived in a railroad apartment in NYC. The apartments are lined up... for instance, you walk through the front door and you'll have the living room and maybe a kitchen, and straight across the room will be another living space, and then straight across that room will be another. It's not very comfy.

I'm not sure, but I beleive that it refers to a hall on one side while all the rooms form compartments along the hallway. I'm not sure if this is correct and could be wrong.

I've seen them in NYC, also called "shotgun apartments." It is a string of rooms in a line. When all the doors are open you can see out the back from the front door. There are usually doors between the rooms so privacy is possible, but may be awkward.
Ummm.. A box car with shag? railroad ties stacked up for furniture? If you couldn't tell, i have no idea, but if it's for rent, I'd say run, run far, run fast. Sounds like something someone says to make it seem better, like "experienced cars" or "like new"... ya know? Is "railroad-style apt." hiding "bums lived here"? laughing too hard to continue, (yes, thankfully) anyway, good luck.
It refers to a layout that mimics a passenger railway car:
A hallway running front to back of the partment with rooms along one side of the hallway. In other words, long, narrow, and windows on only one side of the room and two faces for the front and back rooms.
i bet it is a apartment by a railroad
I saw them once across the tracks when at the R&R roundhouse, but I was not allowed acors the tracks. They were on a side line and looked as they were converted passanger cars to houseing for the famlies of the track crews that went up and down the tracks on hand carts, repairing the tracks...
