It will depend on various things. What colours do you like? What colours are your furnishings now? Is it a bright room or dark? Beyond that... there are many different types of butterflies in myriads of colours. Do some on-line research and see which colour combos really hit you. Most butterflies are strongly colouored, and not pastel. You can use a tint of any colour combo you like. Think of what butterflies do for a living. They find brightly coloured plants and flowers to sip and pollinate. Use English country garden motifs as an accent theme. Consider murals, or stencils. Floral art in whitewashed frames, or floral patterned cushions will work as well.
You might want to do the walls in a pale tinted butter yellow for a sunshine effect. You could try to paint the ceiling with sky and puffy clouds if you have any artistic talent. Use accents of lilac and cornflower blue if you like that feel; go with strong pinks, purples, reds and oranges if you prefer a warmer palette.

Go with a light color I like the lilac idea, right after you paint one wall take a rag (dry and clean) and roll it over the wall you just painted it gives it a great effect (similiar to sponging but alot easier and quicker) Have fun and congrats!

A soft creamy yellow.I would keep it fairly neutral and accent with tons of color. Incase you change your mood a year from now, you wouldn't have to repaint, just get different accents.
Try a light orange wall with flowing curtains of cream. Decorate tables with sunflowers and put butterfly pillows of purple and green on your creme comforter.
