how well does a memory foam pillowtop mattress hold up for a back problem?

Answers:
The first answer is partially true. Memory foam does react to your body heat. As it warms up, you sink in more. Due to the fact that different parts of your body experience more blood flow on the surface, certain parts of your body will sink farther into the memory foam than others, which can have a negative impact. (Example: if you are a stomach sleeper, your chest-where your heart is radiates much more heat than a hand or foot--or stomach for that matter)

Additionally, the following factors need to be considered:
1) Body Style (Flat along the side or curvaceous).
2) Sleeping Position: Back, Side or Stomach Sleeper.
3) Age: The older you are, the more comfort you need.
4) Weight: the heavier you are, the more you will sink into a mattress. If it's not the proper density, you may sink in too far, causing your back to ache in the morning or not allowing for proper alignment-causing back pain all the time.

Memory Foam should help you with your back problem immediately. The question is whether the memory foam is in the pillow top or is it another type of foam. Be very careful when purchasing a memory foam mattress and make sure that you can trust the company that manufactures the bed. If memory foam is in the pillow top, you'll be fine and it should last you at least 10 years. If it is another type of foam in the pillow top, you could be wasting your money as memory foam doesn't react as quickly when it is not directly under a person. It is heat sensitive and your body heat helps the foam contour to you. If you don't have contact with the foam, then it won't help your sore back as much
