20 ft ceiling with a shelf all around the room...any ideas on what to put on the shelves.?

depending on how much room you have, get creative but don't clutter - target.com in clearance always has fun, bright and multiple styles of vases, little glasses, urns, etc - i have space between my kitchen (done in vineyard - all wines, grapes, etc) and my dining room, design carries but in my openings I have clusters of grapes from wal-mart arts and crafts dept, fun urns, wine glasses (some i painted to look like they have wine in them), empty wine bottles, corks, greenery just to add color, some small prints of different wine labels that i put on plate display racks to they stand up. have fun and don't spend a lot of money, get the high design look on a realistic budget :-) I have my Trail of Painted Ponies figures overlooking the living room - along with some horseshoes i got from neighbors whom own horses, bought 50 ft of rope from hardware store and made my own lasso to entertwine - just look at what you already have and like. go from there.

wierd glass statue things, so when the sun comes it, it becomes luminuos. but, the hard part would be dusting?

Books, books, and more books...and some large and/or tall glass things, like jars or vases. Also would be good for storage, get some pretty baskets with fabric liners. I'm actually getting ready to hang shelves like this in my house up close to the ceiling b/c my ceilings are tall.
