What bed size is big enough for a 16 year old teen, 5' 6'', 180lbs?

This is for my son coming to live with me.

Answers:
Full is more comfortable than a twin. More room to move.

Other answers:
Twin and up
Twin and up
queen
A twin sized bed is big enough. I have a 16 year old son who is 6'2" and that's what he has.
Give him a full...let the boy spread out a little....

PuttPutt...I'm 6'2" and I know twins are uncomfortable...my feet stick over the end and there is not much room to roll....get your kid a bigger bed....
a full is very sufficient.
I would say a queen, keep in mind he is still growing.
You need to remember that a twin bed is half the size of a king. How many adults should sleep in a king? Two. How many people do you think it is appropriate to be in your 16 year old (pubescent) teenager's bed???? ONE. Any size is fine, but you might wanna stick with a twin to discourage additional guests in the bed.

Sorry, don't wanna rant, but lets be real about what teens do.
Twin size would be fine but you might try a full that give a little more room to move around and boys like room I know I have 3
go for a full size bed.
full or queen
Full size bed is a good size. Depends on the size of the room too. IF the room is big than I would opt for a queen size. Unfortunately for me, I dont have a big room, so I gotta go with a Full Size.

So you gotta think about the room size as well. But either are good.

Sweet dreams!
I think a twin would be too small (or will be shortly!).
I'd go with a full-sized bed (or bigger if you can get for a decent price). If you buy new, it'll probably last him through college at least. ; )
Get a 3/4 it should be wide enough for your fat kid LOL
I don't think a twin sized bed will discourage "friends" spending the night, just as I don't think a bigger bed would make him any more likely to get busy...they're unrelated.

I think a full should be the smallest you should go if you have the room for it. If you can fit a queen, that would be better.

Whatever you decide, try to stay away from the cheapo matresses!
A twin is big enough, but if he sleeps 'spread out' then a full would give him a bit more room. In fact, you might want to get a full-sized bed anyway since he's still growing at 16 years old.

Good luck!
That depends in part on his genetics, in part on available space, and in part on how much time he'll actually be sleeping there.

At 5'6", he's average to short in stature. Which means a twin sized bed with a good mattress would be adequate. Twin-sized beds take up the least amount of space, and are generally the least expensive bedding option. Choose a day bed or futon, and you have a room that appears more multifunctional. This can be a plus if your son is living with you only part-time. Also, if he's planning to attend college, a twin-sized bed is the size most commonly found in student housing.

If he comes from a family of tall people, chances are good that he's still got a growth spurt ahead of him. If space is available, I'd recommend a full-sized or an extra-long twin bed (a special-order item). Once again, invest in a decent mattress.

Best of all, check with him for ideas. He may have some definite preferences that you can accommodate.
twin is fine. i sleep on a twin and i am taller than he is. Its all about space though. fit in what you can.
A twin would be ok--
A full might give him more room though -where he wouldnt feel like he was going to fall out if he rolled over-
Hope this helps-
my son is 16, 6'0 185, trust me get a queen.....
well, beds in college are twins...
i personaly think a twin is to little maybe a full or a little bigger a queen.
A full size bed would be best if you have the room. Otherwise, a twin would serve well.
a full size bed will be more comfortable, I slept in a twin for years and didn't realize the stretch I was missing... It does make a difference. I know now.
Full is minimum- ***Queen is recomended****-King is bigger than neccessary!
