What is your house like?

I looked for 4 years in three counties for this victorian 2 story, 4 bedroom 3 bath 2500 sqft gem. I have relentlessly worked on it for 8 years as it was white, builder basic ceramic tile, carpet and walls. We were interior designers in LA for over 30 years, decorating everyone else's home, but our own, so this is a labor of love.
Since I am from Europe and my husband is from China, the decor of our home is eclectic, to say the least. My living room is my favorite room in the house and it's architectual features are why we bought this house. It has 2 story high windows capped by a palladian half circle window. About 9 feet up there is a ledge which runs the length of one wall. On the ledge, I painted a full size plaster statute of the Hebe goddess who stands extending her graceful arm to welcome anyone who enters the front door. Hanging on the walls, there are also exquisite silk, sterling silver and gold threaded chinese gowns and jackets which were worn for weddings and ceremonies by my husband's relatives. The wall window and floor treatments are gold, burgandy, green with black accents. On another wall, I painted plaster reliefs of the Goddess of wine, greek and roman myths depicted in plaster, and architectural salvage pieces from European churches and castles. Our friends fondly call our home "the musuem" and enjoy browsing our home to explore antiques, object d'art, fabrics and collections from our world travels. The living room has formal, but overtstuffed and unbelieveably comfortable furniture most of which faces the windows to facilitate the awesome views of our little canyon.
We just started working on the gardens. The builder supplied basic plantings and beds. But, we've added garden art and statuary, as well as 4 fountains. Each area of the backyard has become an outdoor room some with antique wrought iron furniture and others with all weather wicker. My backyard is my second favorite "room" in the house!
Overall, I am grateful to live here and it brings me joy everyday to live in what we have created.

I live in a 2 story, 5 bedroom, 4 full bath home with catwalk overlooking a 2- floor living room, formal living and dining room, eat in island kitchen, laundryroom, full basement,2 car garage, and large deck. I spend most of my time in the kitchen or my bedroom. I have 1/2 acre of land. My front yard is nice, but my backyard is filled with uncontrollable weeds.
