Pergo Floors?
Answers:
They look real nice unless they get wet, then they swell. I had a good friend who had a small dog. He had an accident and they didn't realize it 'cause it was in a back corner of their home, the pergo swelled up like pressboard does when it gets wet.
Other answers:
Pergo also scratches easily and cannot be sanded. It damages too easily.

If you are going to put in a wood floor, do it with the old style wood flooring. It can be sanded and refinshed. More expensive but you won't have to keep replacing pergo if it gets wet or scratches. Says it doesn't scratch but after 4 years we replaced ours with cherry wood.
It depends on a few things: How much money is in the budget for flooring? What area of the house are you doing? Do you have small children, pets and is that area prone to high traffic?
Having original wood floors are great and look very nice...it is hard work (if you DIY )We had them through out our first house and the upkeep was not that bad.Make sure your pets nails are clipped, shoes are removed ( in winter due to salt residue)use only designated products for hardwood floors.
Our home now has Armstrong Laminate High Density in Cherry wood flooring. I Love it!(I know there are other companies that offer same type product-We went to Home Depot) The benefits are great:
Save money if you install yourself- took us 2 weekends.
(Some places give the option for them to install- for fee.)
20 year warranty
easy install
scratch resistant
burn resistant
stain and moisture resistant
fade resistant
upkeep: use Pledge "grab-it" products ( wet and dry)
for spills...paper towel with warm water
I highly recommend for anyone with small children ( and older who are in and out all the time) pets and who like to keep low maintenance.
Hope this was of some help...good luck in what ever you decide. It will look great ( and healthier than carpet!!)
