whats a normal height for a chair rail?
Answers:
There really is no "normal" height because the intent is to keep the chairs from hitting the wall. Some people say 32 inches, but that could look low if you have 16 foot high ceilings. I ususally judge by the chair backs that are in the room and what visually looks right for that room.

32 or 36 inches, I'm a contractor. really what ever you want.
thirty-two inches from the bottom of the rail
it's all according to your ceiling height. 9' ceiling=36" 8" ceiling=32"
36"
32-36". Most rooms are about 8' tall and you want the upper part of the room larger than the lower for it to look right. Also depends on the size of your base.
3ft from the floor
