Can I use a desk as a kitchen table?

Ya know what??? The most enjoyable thing about decorating, or furnishing is that we have the freedom to choose.
"Cheesy" would only be an issue if you live your life by the definition of others.
If it works for you, then it has to work for others, or hopefully they are diplomatic and intelligent enough to keep their opinions to themselves. Decorating is as personal an issue as what color undergarments you most like, or even what religious beliefs you follow. It's YOURS do what makes YOU most happy,,,OH and btw,,, don't stress over what others think anyhow.
I've been around a long time, and have had many VERY eclectic pieces of what I considered "furniture" in my life. I've used pine planks and blocks for book shelves. I've used milk crates as magazine racks or file folder holders. I've used a door as a table, etc etc etc.
Have fun with what you do, color outside the lines, think outside the box, follow your own intuitions, don't be led by others.

I'm not a fan of Pottery Barn strictly, though I see no social offense in having things from that company that one enjoys. in that same regard, using what one has, for their own comfort, satisfaction, design, is truly far more important, than taking suggestions.

There is nothing anywhere that says you have to have a special kind of table. If you want to, go for it.
if you want and it looks ok to you more power to you! but if you have the computer on the desk too I would have to say no
or if you do put the computer on a higher level from the table
that way if you spill water it will not get to the computer
it would as you don't want the desk to be any taller than like a coffee table. since i resored historic buildings for over 24 years, you might want to consider building a wooden booth in the nook putting cushings on it for seats or the backs also. the plus to it also is you can build it to have the seats on both sides of the bench open up to store items you don't use that much.
I think it would be a neat piece and a great conversation starter for people who notice it.
I THINK IT WOULD LOOK GREAT AND BE PRACTICAL AS WELL IN THAT IT WOULD SAVE A LITTLE MULA. YOU CAN USE A LOT OF UNUSUAL THINGS FOR FURNITURE ANY MORE UNLESS YOU WANT TO STAY WITHIN STRICT HISTORICAL GUIDELINES. I LOVE TO USE DIFFERENT THINGS IN MY HOME THAT WERE MEANT TO BE FOR OTHER USES. AND WHO WILL KNOW EXCEPT US HERE?!
I see no reason why you shouldn't. sound good to me. It's nice to do something original and pleasing to you. The drawer will be handy for placemats, etc.
That sounds very nice! A lot of old tables have drawers in them.
You can store napkins, placemats and bread boards in them.
