Can you sealcoat a deck that have to be painted????

We purchased a home with a gorgeous deck, which the previous owner painted rather than stained. After numerous sessions of pressure-washing, I found 4 different layer of paint. Pressure washing is starting to wound the wood, I cannot sand it down, and we cannot use chemical strippers as we have numerous dogs and 2 outdoor cats. We found a great exterior paint surrounded by the color we'd love, but I want to know if it's possible to seal it to avoid, or prolong the blistering and chipping??? Thank you.

Answers:    you probably can but you would be better off using a primer beforehand painting and be paid sure that you use a good floor or porch paint. I have an idea that if you seal coat the wood consequently you would have more problems near peeling because the paint wouldn't properly bond to the sealer as it would primer or ever basically bare wood.
