If you could, would you put skylights in your house? Yes or no, and why?
Answers:
Our house came with skylights, and we love them. Wish we could install one in our other bathroom. It allows light in, sometimes even at night when there is a full moon, and it is neat during a thunderstorm. No danger of leaks. I agree with the person above me who said blinds are a good thing.
Other answers:
yes, but I think just in my kitchen to let light in, I want to keep the living room cozy.

Yes , they would give me the light of the day without the preying eyes of my perverted neighbor.
Skylights are a great way to make a small room or house appear and feel bigger and more spaceous. As a real estate broker I love selling houses with skylights, especially in the winter as they are a great way to get "free heat" on a sunny day. I would deffinately put some form of blinds on them though because they really heat a room up in the summer months!
I had a house a few years ago that had skylights in the kitchen, bedroom and one bath.
I really enjoyed them. It was very nice to look up and see the stars at night and in the winter the sun was nice coming through.
I really don't think I would we get so much snow here in the winter, they would be covered all the time and I would not get the full effect of them, would love to be able to see the stars at night, but just would not be able to see out of them in the winter.. big sigh !!
No. Live in Alaska. Can you imagine the heat loss in the winter and the snow load? Also, what lets heat out lets it in.
Yes, I'd put them over the stairwell of my house. There's no window there, and I'd like the natural light and ventilation I could have. I wish I'd thought of it when the house was being built, honestly.
I live in a small studio with a skylight. I love it. The only downside is that raindrops are EXTREMELY noisy. I'll take the benefits over the noise anyday, though.
