Two kitchen questions: Which looks better with black appliances...light or darker cabinets?

Apparently everyone thinks lighter is better than dark. If that were the only two choices I would agree, but you should consider some other colors. I think a red stain would look very nice with the right hinges and knobs/handles. Look at some of the cherry and red mahogany colors available. Those also look especially good with stainless steel.

lighter....if you got darker, your kitchen might start to look like death. but a stainless steel fridge would look great!
I think it will look better in darker cabinets, depends on how dark, thats my decision, but this is not my kitchen. :}
Light cabinets...you don't want your kitchen to dark. Yes a stainless steel fridge will look good. Get one with black edges.

Go with the lighter cabnets. It will add a bright contrast to help balance the dakk colour. I can't decide about the stainless steel fridge but I'm leaning toward no.
I would say lighter cabinets, possibly chalked white wood and yes a stainless steel fridge would look good - hard work to keep clean though !
Definitely light cabinets with black appliances. I think if you want a uniform look, go with a black fridge. If you think you might want to upgrade the rest of your appliances in a few years, get the stainless steel fridge. I think stainless steel and black will look fine together.
Lighter; otherwise it will look way too dark; and the fridge should probably match the other appliances; the contrast might be nice if you follow through with the two-tone / black & silver look in other areas of the kitchen.
I went through the same thing while building my house. All of my appliances are black, fridge included and I have a natural maple for my cabinets, overall, I am very well impressed with the outcome of the dark appliances and light cabinets. I would stay away from the stainless steel fridge if the rest are black. Also, you may want to try sears website, there is tool there were you can change the outlook of wood and appliances.
