I would close to some accepted wisdom for my fireplace mantle, what is higher than your mantle?
Answers: right now i hold mine decorated for halloween - some leaves, candles contained by votives, some birds and small pumpkins and gourds also a small black cauldron. at thanksgiving i will have some fall down flowers, leaves, pilgrim candles and a small horn of plenty. at christmas i will have stockings floppy, lights, a village scene and a candy dish or a bowl of nuts next to the crackers inserted. hope this helps. pious luck.
