Advice needed for bedroom colors. PLEASE HELP!!?
Also: what is your view on mismatched wood types? Such as: my bed would be a mahogany but my dresser would be a pale oak (I think that's what it is).

paint your ceiling the same as your walls.this gives the ceiling a higher appearence and seams to be the in thing.as for the furnishings.they should work fine together.you may want to add some wood accent to the decor to bring it together.

Do your ceiling in a VERY light (almost white) blue. Just be sure it stays lighter than the walls if you don't want to feel like your ceiling is closing in on you. Also, BE SURE to look at the paint chips in the light of your room, and with the different light sources (i.e. opposite a window, versus the wall with the window in it) as that will GREATLY affect the way the color looks. I ended up repainting one room because of light sources (a nice light leafy green ended up looking flourescent mint green on the wall opposite of a large window). Worse comes to worse, take a deep breath and remember - it's only paint! At least it's not carpet! :)
add some of the blue color to white paint to dilute the intensity and put that on your ceiling. the mahogany sounds pretty with the wll color, so paint the dresser lavender. have fun!!
paint the ceiling lavendar too. if you only have a small can mix it with the white for a pale lavender ceiling. they are currently mixing furniture colors, but you can also sand it down and paint to match or coordinate with the walls. if your ceiling has a center light fixture, you could hang fabric. just tack or staple around the light fixture and take it to the wall edge, staple and cover staple line with gross grain ribbon an inch wide.the fabric could cover the entire ceiling or just a cross shape from light to the center of each wall. or you can put a circular or oval framed mirror on the ceiling above your bed and tuck fabric in under the frame as you put it up, to make a bed drape, sheer fabric would be good for this, today walmart had two kinds that would have been nice for a dollar a yard, a shaded blue sheer and a rose pink sheer with flowers on it. any color sheer or tulle would work as long as you liked the way it blended with your design. with those colors you could go with an under the sea theme and get a mermaid picture or doll, and take a seashell stencil, and some pearl white paint and randomly stencil pearly shells over the wall. and hang real shells in the draped fabric, i get shells at the dollar store in bags. use some beach glass too, walmart sells that in bags in the floral arranging area. then you could get some of the flattened marbles and glue to the wall as bubbles in the water. Have fun with it, do it in stages if you have to for economy. let me know what you decide on, id love to see it done.
