About IKEA - What do you think?

I used to live in Moscow, and I got to know IKEA there, I loved that store, but then I moved to New England and there was no IKEA here, until last year when one opened in Stoughton, Mass.

A lot of people(here in U.S.) Think that IKEA is cheap and crappy, but I have literally furnished my new house with IKEA products, and I had all of them, from beds to small decorations for more then a year now, and I am very glad, and everyone who comes in is amazed by the style.

Sweden has been long-known for it's sense of modern-style and quality of their produce. I think that 99% of the products IKEA makes are worth buying them... These products are of a really high quality.

What do you think about IKEA?

Answers:
I like IKEA alot, and whenever it's time to redecorate that's where we go! I think most people like it too, that's why it has amazing net sales each year. If someone say's IKEA is "cheap and crappy" then that person probabley doesn't take good care of their things AND they are also a snob who is too insecure to spend money anyplace other than high-end furniture stores! They are too worried what people will think of them. I like to mix my fine furniture pieces with my funky IKEA style - we get lots and lots of compliments!

I think ikea has cheap and shallow furniture. It all breaks soon after you put it together. That is if you can even put it together.
i love ikea. as long as you put the things together properly they last a long time and look great. i think they have a bed rep just because they are so cheap and theyre associated with college kids and futons and all of that. i love them.
I like IKEA. Sure, some of their items are cheaply made and I don't believe a lot of the stuff will ever be seen on 'Antique Roadshow 2050' but they have great stuff with lots of style and function, and are practical and affordable. Glad they moved to Atlanta.
I think a lot of their products are expensive.
IKEA is awesome!!!!!!
I fell in love with it in Europe, too.

It's finally coming to Utah next spring-whew!

So far, most people I know don't even know what IKEA is, so, I've not heard the negativity about it.
Those that do know-love it!
i have used Ikea for many years and all i can say is:

1) cheap crap.
2) overpriced.
3) too much work transferred to the buyer in the name of low price (e.g. 200 million things to screw and glue and do before it's usable)
4) many of the designs are really ugly
5) the names piss me off.
6) LOW QUALITY.

They are just lucky that most people can't afford the expensive designer furniture, and aren't into the old-style furniture. That's why they make so much business here (germany).
I agree that IKEA has some great merchandise! Many Americans have trouble with the hardware on almost ALL of the "needs assembly" type of products. We also have a dislike for particle board, even if it does have a nice veneer covering on it! 100% solid wood products hold up best in a country where people are hard on things. IKEA has improved on this over the years.
I LOVE IKEA!! They have GREAT stuff! The only downside to IKEA is that you have to put the stuff together yourself. But, for the price... its well worth it. And I've gotten pretty good at putting furniture together.
P.S.... even if you don't like their stuff... just go to IKEA for the swedish meatballs. YUMMMM!!!
I love Ikea it's great I always shop there 4 household appliances.
I love IKEA! My only beef with it is that they tend to use very soft wood. I did my son's bedroom set using IKEA furniture and I can make a imprint into the wood using my fingernail.
i think that alot of the stuff there is either really cheap or really overpriced. i once bought a lamp from there and it broke so fast. if you see their as is section and how the stuff is just broken it makes you wonder if the furniture that you bought is going to look like that after a while
I love looking around in IKEA for ideas. I've never bought furniture there but I do have alot of small decorative things I've purchased there. Oh, wait, my wicker footstool is from IKEA. Is that furniture?? ANyway, I love that and it has held up well.
