my wife wants to refinish the kitchen cupboards the doors are off and sanded down but the frames also need the varnish taken of and we don`t want to sand then down in the house and ideas for you experts out there would be very much appresiated

Liquid sand is what you need. I think it is manufactured by Paseo. I used it when I refinished my bathroom vanity and didn't want to sand the frame after the drawers and cabinet doors were off. It roughs up the surface enough that it is de-glossed enough to take either new stain, glaze or paint. You can get it in the home improvement stores in the paint/stain aisle.
