What does a professional painter usually charge to paint a room?
Answers:
15X18 is a pretty big room. You're looking at 3 gallons for 2 coats.
I use to paint in GA for years, and I would say for just walls, no ceilings or trim, without spackling nail holes and cracks, you are looking at about $200 a coat including paint. If you live near Marietta, look up Sunset Paint Systems. He is an excellent painter and very reasonable. If you have trouble finding the number, check with the local Marietta Benjamin Moore paint stores, they will know how to get in touch with Sunset Paint Systems.

It probably depends on the area of the country you live in and then a variance b/t contractors/painters. I would think that 900-1200 would be a reasonable amount. But if you live in an area where the cost of living is higher, then it could be more. It is really easy to do interior painting.

It all depends on the size of the room. It would definitely be cheaper to do it yourself though. You would only be out the cost of the materials. A room that big would probably cost you at least $500. The cost also would depend on the painter.
If you paint it yourself, you'll need a roller, at least one roller sleeve, a telescoping roller handle, a roller pan with a deep end, some painter's tape to keep the paint off the trim, and a drop cloth to keep from getting paint on your floor. And for a room that size, at least 2 gallons of paint. The paint store will be able to tell you how many square feet the paint will cover. To calculate the square footage of all your walls, you will need to multiply the length of the walls, by the height. So if your room is 15x18, you add 30+36(total length of all 4 walls), multiply by 9(ceiling height). Total square foot of wallspace = 594.
I live outside of Philadelphia and had 5 rooms painted (two of which have catherdral ceilings) last year for $2500. So I'm thinking that anything around $500 per room is reasonable.
I'm a professional painter with 25 years experience. All the answers given thus far are pretty accurate. Good job everyone
Any professional painter is going to charge you A LOT. My mom looked into getting her house painted, and they wanted $5000 !! I'd say do it yourself...
