Hourly rate for ceramic tile installation?
Answers:
although some installers may have an hourly rate most charge by the Sq.Ft. and the smaller the tile the more it costs.
(if some of the installers I've seen were getting hourly it would take 3 times as long to do the job!)
give me a description of the job and I'll tell what I'd charge
Other answers:
At least 7.50 per sq foot or over for installation. The tile is the inexpensive part.

Everyone we checked with when we installed our flooring charged by the tile. Cost a lot more to lay the tile than to purchase the tile itself. My sister went to do-it-yourself class at Home Depot and saved A LOT of money. Hers looks just as good as ours!
I charge by the square foot. I charge more for stone and very big or very small tile. Also charge for underlayment, remodel work, or patterns ie diagonal with border etc. The easiest and therefore most economical is ceramic in 12" range and fiberock or Hardi-backer underlayment. You can expect to pay anywhere from 2-4/sq.ft. for the easiest installation. For remodel work, the price goes up. But Chicago, I suspect the price is higher. Get reference and check license, insurance, bond.
A little secret, don't tell anyone OK. It's pretty easy, you can do it yourself. You didn't hear that from me.
