Grab new curtains, paint the room, make lanterns out of your lamps, buy carpets, rugs, and of course, never forget to gear up the place and put a tv, DVD player, computer, phone and everything you could think of. But if you really, really want to go artsy... maybe you could refer to magazines or even Art Attack! Just think of the possibilities!

A good bedroom should make you go to sleep. NO fancy stuffs necessary.
a mural of your favourite subject or copy a painting you love. then continue the painting around the furniture. it'll look fantastic.

Try hanging several gauze/whatever fabric drapes from the center of your room, and then tack them in the corners to look like a canopy. Throw-pillows on the floor keep it exotic feeling, and if you want, get a real live tiger to live in your closet. You'll be fun then.
Try a 70's theme, seems to be coming back. You know, the gaudy couches and fabrics and lava lamps, etc. This is a fun, colorful and simple decor.
by the looks of your avatar, i think a goth-ic style will suit you. dark painted walls (ash colored sponge paint) and blood-red fabricks, velvet curtains. or go for japanese minimalism, that'll be unexpected.
Try buying colourful pieces of material and hanging them over the lampshade and the main bedroom light. You can also hang tehm over the pelmet. Put a hook in the ceiling and get a colourful mosquitonet to hang from there over you bed like a cover. Use bean bags instead of chairs. You can put lanterns in the room with candles for a romantic glow. Have fun

Depends if you want to be creative on the walls (with your paint/art work) or if you just want the colour and personality to come out in your soft furnishings (cushions/curtains etc). I always think your better off going crazy with accessories because you can always change those easy and create another look entirely. I would go with a soft wall colour (what ever your preference - lilac/pink/blue - but it has to be a pale version) and then if you like fake fur and fluffy stuff combine that with colours of your wild self - just have fun doing it and once you sit back and think that you created this, you will enjoy it even more - good luck

There is no right or wrong answer you will get here. We all have ideas, usually personal to each of us.
Most important is, what are your interests, hobbies, passions, color choices, icon items, trophies, pictures, teddy bears, etc etc etc etc etc etc.
What might work for me, even in suggesting, might not at all be what might suit you.
Remember, it's your space/place, do with it what you wish, reasonably. Wild, mild, expensive, cheap, abstract or generic. You have to live in it. It should be a place of comfort or stimulation, depending on what you want.
