I live in a too small apartment with no room..need organizational tips and techniques for small place.?

I moved from a much bigger place, put some in storage shed. I can't move and I am looking for ideas to improve the use of the space I do have (you know like organizers you can make or buy, etc)....just ways to make things look better and use the space I do have (for instance, I put a board across top closet shelf held up by milk crates on each side (where I put books/folders with open side out) and this doubled the shelf space..this kind of stuff..and more.

Answers:
Utilize the space under your beds. I have dvd racks under my kids beds to store the dvds and games. Also get a carpenter to make your coffee table open up like a chest, and you could install shelves and get seats with storage space under the seat -build the seat with a hinge so you lift the seat and it's like a storage box. Get a shelving stand to put over your toilet. Use the space above your head. Store high and also under furniture-out of sight of course. Use shelf racks in your shed too so you can utilize the space above ground level as well. Stack high. BTW now would be a good time to spring clean and get rid of extra stuff. Donate, Sell or throw away unnecessary stuff. The less clutter you have the neater your home will be and the less stressed out you will be.

try checking out the IKEA website at www.ikea.com There's lots of organizational tips there, and if you do decide to buy stuff, it's usually not too expensive, and they're having a sale through Monday!

Watch TLC or HGTV network or go to TLC or HGTV.com
They have all kinds of shows and ideas.
if u do have small space.

>> have everything hang. (hanging closets, cupboards etc.)
>> you need to sacrifice some things that you no longer use.
>> have your place painted light colors. (it gives out the sense and the look of space)
>> have you think about having sofa beds??? its dual use.
>> have 3 in 1 appliance.
>> if you are planning to stay here longer, consider your space when buying things for your home. if you need it or not. for it would only clutter your place.

goodluck!!
how about a footstool that opens to keep magazines. My coffee table looks like a chest. tons of storage inside. Baskets under the bed for shoes or whatever. A storage rack that fits over the toilet holds alot of cosmetics and soaps.I bought inexpensive plastic shoe boxes for my desk. I can see whats in them and they are stacked.
use vertical storage ie shelves, use under the bed storage.
My apartment is small too. I try to use every inch of space, under the coffee table there are storage boxes, under the bed i store the clothes that are out of season. It is not a difficult but you do have to give it some thought. What works for me is to give items 2 jobs, like the storage trunk is also a table along the back of the couch.
I get this monthly catalog called Hold Everything. It has great prices and a lot of ideas for you. Also if you are on a budget check out the DIY section of Lowes or Home Depot. Barnes and Noble also has alot of books on the subject. Remember that any good project takes planning and preparation. Do not get into too big of a hurry or you will be cleaning up the new mess for along time.
I use lots of stackable wicker baskets. they hold lots of stuff and look nice too. Shelving is a must too.
All these products I found online. You can buy some of them in the stores, and some are online only:
