i shop at the salvation army i find lots of great items,i am not poor but not rich .and when people?

ask me" where i got that cool lamp or that beautiful mirror" i feel ashamed to tell them where i got it from.my house has alot of items from the goodwil.i love these stores so why am i ashamed!

Answers:
Often when you buy used things, it means you're not getting something you can easily get off the shelves at Target or Ikea. It means you're an original who likes pieces that are harder to find, so if someone asks where you got it, they won't be able to get the same thing!

Other answers:
You are ashamed because you're letting society have an affect on you! You should be buying things for yourself- and if you feel uncomfortable with telling them where you bought it, tell them that it's either 1) none of their business or 2) lie.

Because there is a stereotype that only "poor" people shop at Goodwill and places like that. I wouldn't be ashamed. It might actually change someones mind by seeing what kind of awesome stuff they can actually find there. Don't worry about it and if someone is shallow enough to look down on you because of where you got your lamp, then that isn't someone I would want to associate with.
When people compliment one of your goodwill items use the opportunity to BRAG! Tell them where you got it and how much you paid - be proud you got a good deal - before too long those people will be shopping at the goodwill. I just got a sag harbor shorts set at the kidney foundation thrift store for $3.00 - it still had the tags on it!

I proud to get a good bargain and I want everyone to know how smart am I to get such a good deal.
snob
Had the items NOT been donated,

YOU MIGHT HAVE FOUND THEM AT THE ESTATE SALE
OF THE PERSON WHO DID DONATE THEM....
this might be a little white story--but
it could save you face and make you look pretty
smart with money! (hint!)
Which, in my opinion, you already are!
First of all, never pay full price for anything!I shop at GW and the S Army plus Ebay and Craigslist all the time.I love to share with friends what agreat deal I got.You also have to remember if you thought enough of a person to bring them in your home they should think enough of you not to judge you like that.Keep on bargain shopping!Another persons trash is truly someone elses treasher.
Hey, Goodwill and the Salvation Army are good places to shop, don't be ashamed just be happy that you found a good deal, I also shop at these places, and you would be suprised how many of your friends would shop there if they seen the great deals, why buy new when you can buy used that looks like new or can be cleaned up to look like new. If your friends are too snooty and don't like good deals, don't worry about it, if you enjoy shopping at these places, they are the ones missing out on the deals, but I think if they like what you have bought they might enjoy going on a spree to these stores with you, never know until you ask!
You should not be ashamed, you should be proud that you know how to spend money, and to buy cheap things. Not everything needs to be expensive to look great.
I love to tell people about the bargains i get at goodwill I say girl you would not believe what i found at the good will for 2.00 and i act real proud
My sister had no money when she was younger, but her kids always dressed in designer clothes. She also was impeccably dressed. (My brother-in-law can't be dressed)
She did it thru the Salvation Army store.
Do not be proud, be frugal.
Good luck.
"So where did you get this great lamp?"
"You wouldn't believe me if I told you- especially how much I paid!"

Then after they've begged to know "your little secret" tell them "it was only $_____, and I found it at.... (drum roll, please!) Good Will!"

I don't know why you're ashamed to be shopping at Good Will or Salvation Army- 2 good things are coming out of this- they make money that goes to a good cause, and you got beautiful stuff for your home.
