Prom Ideas?
Answers:
What about a 'red carpet entrance' where parents, friends can come and see everyone all dressed up and take photos???
The students can all meet at one place and take a decorated limos, bus or van to the prom. Family members of the prom can stand behind a 'gold rope' and the limos can bring the prom couples to the event. They can strut their stuff on the red carpet to the background of some great music, a funny DJ (or announcer) and a cheering crowd.
We have taken photos at our home in the past with our daughter and her prom date, but we never get to see the decorated venue or my daughter's friends all dressed up. It will take some good coordination but will be truely unique.
If you have access to a video equipment and big screens (TV)--try this: Some one (such as talented underclassmen) can operate video cameras to tape people dancing. Then different dancing couples can be featured on a big screen for everyone to see throughout the night. Recording it on disk may even make a cool keepsake.
Maybe the movie theaters, grocery stores and other places that show movies or sell DVDs in town will give away or sell some of their movie posters, lifesize cardboard cutouts and other marketing material they use for advertisements. My university theater discards of their material this way.
If you can get life size cardboard cutouts of famous people, have the students going to prom take pictures of themselves with those cutouts in funny poses that look real. Do this for several weeks before the prom. Then make a slide show and show it at the prom.
See of you can obtain those gossip magazine covers, such as People Magazine--with funny headlines--such as 'worse dressed at the Oscars' '100 most beautiful people' or 'celebrity break-ups' and take prom pictures using those magazine covers as background or template--like they do at amusement parks.
I hope this helps and I hope it is the prom to remember!

Glitter, sparkles, find someone in the school who has a camera setting and just place it somewhere, have a red carpet, a projecting screen for fun, etc... disco ball is a must. Also, get online and get free pictures of movie stars, blow them up at home or at a printing shop, and put them on the walls. Adopting poor unfortunate children like Angelina jolie may make you very popular.
You know the Hollywood Walk of Fame? Where celebrities have stars with their names? You could do something like that, a bunch of cut out stars making a path leading the way into the room where you're having your dance. If yours is just a senior prom, maybe they could each have the name of a senior on them.
You could have glamor shots of celebrities where you're having the set up for the prom pictures, and have a "lights, camera, action: I'm ready for my close up!" kind of theme for it.
An obvious idea would be a red carpet, awards show type set up. Center pieces for the tables could be like mock oscars or something.
I assume you have a prom king and queen - you could announce them like they do at awards shows. Maybe a couple of teachers, or a couple of people from the prom committee, would get up with an envelope and do the whole "and the winner is...!" thing.
