Pottery Barn for Kids has THE CUTEST rooms. Check out their website or if you have a mall that has the store go to it :)

TRY A THEME LIKE SHE IS THE PRINCESS OR FAIRY INSTEAD OF SOMEONE ELSES CHARACTER... IT OPENS YOUR OPTIONS UP ALOT. ALSO, HAVE YOU LOOKED AT MURALS? THEY ARE GREAT.

You can make two small puddles of paint right next to eachother on a palate, then take a large, flat, brush and make half one color and half the other color. then you can swirl the brush around to make adorable 2-toned flowers or just wavy lines.
whats her favourite colour that she will still like in a few years instead of re-decorating all the time? just go for something plain and simple.
One suggestion is got to the TLC website and look up past projects from Trading Spaces. That might give you some idea's. Also, Lowes and Home Depot have books for decorating kids rooms (with paint and so on).
Do her favorite color or her favorite animal theme or even a hobby. Like if she likes blue, do different shades of blue and white. If she likes horses, maybe do a barnyard theme. Just base it on something she really likes, and she will definitely enjoy the room.
I would sit with her and ask her to pick 3 colors, then based on those colors come up with a theme that would incorporate them.

Let's say she is into Horses, what I would do, it have a mural of green fields with some close up trees, some far away. On one wall I would put a coral with some horses in there and in the middle of the field have horses running, maybe you could change it to a desert feel like in Arizona, with a view of the Grand Canyon or something
a thing that I did for my daughter was the boarder, I went to the fabric store and got a wide ribbon, with the wire in it, and found another ribbon with beads hanging, sewn the two together and had a cute boarder with beads hanging.she loved it, we had a pink/blue ribbon and pink beads.
Well, I think that you should go with something that she likes now but can be easily changed in a few years or that she will continue to like. A light blue color would be nice, because by the time she reaches ten, most probably, she'll have grown out of any sort of yellow or pink colored wall.

White furniture is good, but don't do with something that can be easily stained or broken. Add little extras to it, if she wants it cute, like paintings of flowers or a board with pictures of her friends and such. The hanging butterflies are also quite nice.
Ask her what she has in mind. My daughter is into Betty Boop and wanted a room to reflect this character with black walls. We found a happy medium that we can both live with, black sheets, White walls and lots of red accessories. What is her favourite movie, or animal and build from there. If she loves tigers, lions, do an African Room, if she likes dolphins make her room look like a ship with pictures of dolphins in the portholes, use your imagination and don't forget 6 year olds have great imaginations, just tone it down a bit so that you can live with the room to. Have fun and let her help, this is a great weekend project for the two of you.
wish i was that lucky 2 tell my mother i wanted my room redecorated. yes i am HATING. lol
Butterflies!
You can get a butterfly kite and hang it from the ceiling, put some pictures of butterflies up on the wall - photos and artwork, even get some framed specimens of real butterflies (try eBay). You can also find a wide variety of the feather butterflies for floral arrangements at the dollar store or craft stores, and add them around the room.
