I have oil central heating and want to move to 'greener' heating option. What system is the most econmical?

I am looking at wood pellet systems, ground source and air heat pumps, solar panels and wind turbines. Which of the above is the best/best combination? I want the house to be comfortable but also have the smallest heating bill possible whilst reducing carbon emissions.

There are solar systems that will heat your water and your rooms, and for less money than the installation of conventional electrically powered units. Contact the energy saving trust and you can get a grant. A solar panel is a very good option to save your energy use and you actually sell electricity back to the grid! Get your cavity wall filled with a grant and get your roof insulated well. You may even want to get your floors insulated but it is a dirty job with a small gain value
