Why won't my table lamp come on when I flip the switch?
Answers: First using a test meter check the voltage at the fixture surrounded by question. You should hold between 110 and 120 Volts AC present. If the voltage is less or vary you have a problem next to the switch or wiring, If the voltage is steady and between 110 to 120 volts consequently the problem is in the fixture. The hurricane lantern, the ballast or in some elder fixtures you could have a starter. A starter is the smallest expensive, then the hurricane lantern and the ballast is the most expensive. Sometimes with an elder fixture it is better to replace the fixture if the ballast is bad. If unsure of how to testing voltage safely capture an electrician as this can be dangerous.
Sounds close to the lamp or the ballast requirement to be replaced.
