My pumpkins always end long than anybody else's. The sulfur inhibits the growth of bacteria. You can seize sulfur sticks at a store that sells supplies for making beer and wine (the sulfur is used to prevent bacterial contamination of bottles). Or, ask the chemistry coach for a small piece of sulfur.
you will either enjoy to get control of time or heat. If you can slow down time or keep the climate within your area nice and chilly, your pumpkin should end plenty long enough. I suggest time control is probably out of the question. Weather too. Plan B: put the pumpkin surrounded by a cool dry place when it doesn't need to be on display. On the other mitt, a little decy and depradation make a pumpkin that much more spooky.
