Had to change my door knob at my untried place because the other one had no switch to it... was trying to install it (long story short) when kids started combat and breaking stuff in the patio. pulled them apart, brought youngest in house to separate them... and door wound up getting closed. The knob weren't screwed in, in a minute both have fall out... and the door will not open because the inside latch division is locked into the door and I can't get it start on. PLEASE help me clear my door!
(Fortunately I do have another door to find outside, but I have NO erudition of this kind of stuff and I don't know what to do. Please lend a hand me!)
Answers: Try this:
If there are no knob the inside mechanism should be showing. You should see the "framework" of the interior of the latch when you look through the voluminous hole. Put a screwdriver through the slot you see in the middle and verbs the mechanism toward the hinge side of the door. The plunger should release.
