yep, bought a ton of candles on ebay for my wedding because they were cheap and they came in bulk.

A lot depends on who / where you are buying them from. I would go to Epinions.com and get feedback on the seller before taking the buying plunge. If you are purchasing from a site like Amazon or Ebay, then read the customer ratings there.
Last rule of thumb: it's always best to make a small purchase first and try it out. If the candles suck, then you didn't lose too much moola on the venture.
yes, if they were special candles that I could not buy at a store locally or if they were realy cheap and shipping was free.
for decorating purposes, most def not!There is too much of a risk of there being chips, slight discoloration, etc. And it is a pain to try to return things over the internet.
Maybe I'm bias, though, I am about 10 minutes drive from the Yankee Candle flagship store in Deerfield, MA. :)
I have bought umpteen things over the internet without any problems. Candles would be a problem with shipping though.
I'd be wary about it only because I'd be afraid they might melt or become deformed en route, but that's because it's hellishly hot here in Texas and those mail delivery trucks aren't air conditioned. Also depends on what you need the candles for. If you're looking for good-quality ones, I'd pick them out in person.

The only candles I ever trust and buy are PartyLite candles. They aren't sold over the internet because a consultant comes to your house for a "party" and demos the candles for you and your guests. This way you get a full understanding of the product and they are guaranteed. So, no, I would not order over the internet beacuse I wouldn't trust the quality of them.

yes, bath and body works, yankee candle and henry bendel offer nice deals. and you know it's quality candles.
I order candles from Yankee Candles all the time. They have closeout sales online. You get the same candles that they sell in the store at a much lower price.
