Starting your own Candle Business?

Me an my wife have a homebased candle business making container candles. These are by far the easiest candles to make, you basically melt the wax, add color and scent, put your wicks in your container and pour.
You will need some equipment for this process. First, a melter. There arew many different pot advertised for candlemaking, but actually an electric roaster works just as well or better for a lot less money. A good large dial thermometer, ladle or pouring pot, oven mits, a large knife for cutting wax, a kitchen scale are all useful. Most of these products can be found in your local walmart or similar store.
As far as the actually candle supplies you will need wax, dye (liquid or powder, powder is more expensive but creates bolder colors, liquid make pastel colors), pretabbed wicks, wick stickers(for attaching wicks in jars), scent, and of course containers. I recommend IGI 4627 as your wax because it is easy to work with (about the consistency of vaseline) and holds the scent extremely well.
As far as finding these supplies, ebay may bee a good place to get started. Also doing an online search for "candlemaking supplies" will get you a ton of hits. www.candlewic.com is a good place to start also. Looking in the yellow pages will also yield some results. If possible finding a local supplier will help be cause you can pick up the supplies yourself and avoid expensive shipping costs (wax and jars can easily run into the hundreds of pounds)

You might need molds, and I know eBay got some real cheap wax, and the scented wax as well, and bulk candle wicks
