Installed 2nd thermostat.?

I live in a raise ranch house. There be only one thermostat installed surrounded by the house for both heat and nouns conditioning. It is located on the lower level which is half-way below the globe level. It works fin surrounded by the winter for heating but not extremely well within the summer for air conditioning. Gets hot upstairs and other running downstairs to adjust for this problem.
I installed a very makeshift Honeywell thermostat upstairs. Fished up the four conductor wire to the modern one. The 4 wires go to:
White to W.
Green to G.
Red to RC.
and Blue to Y.
It works but their is one problem. When I set the devotee to ON not Auto the air conditioner kick in. The warmth contol has no affect. The nouns conditioner stays on as long as the fan is set to ON. I know you might influence "well don't set it to ON" but sometimes I want to merely run the fan by itself.
What is going on?
Thanks, Dan.

Answers:    The electrics to the thermostat was intended to jump to just one thermostat, have two of them connected to the same electric wiring is likely to create problems, especially if one were set to warmness and the other to cool but even in the "off" setting it could own connected outputs together (which normally doesnt thing since it isnt feeding them power) that raison d`¨ētre strange things to happen when the other thermostat is used.

Red is adjectives (hot) power.
White is call for warmness.
The blue and green would be for A/C and fan, not sure which stale the top of my head.

Disconnect wires from innovative downstairs thermostat that run to the furnace. If you connect red to white, you should get warmth (probably after a short delay). If you connect red to blue, you will either bring just the admirer or the fan beside A/C, the green will do the opposite.
Once you own proved out what wires do what, connect the common and fry wires (should be the red and the white) to the downstairs thermostat (dont connect green/blue), it will now singular have control over the bake. Feed the red, green and blue wires to the upstairs thermostat and connect to the fan and A/C connections, the upstairs thermostat will control enthusiast and A/C but not heat.

Most thermostats own a switch which will turn everything off (at lowest as far as that thermostat is concerned), never have them both turned on as it might try to bake and cool at the same time, not extremely economical.
In the summer, turn off downstairs thermostat and control A/c beside upstairs thermostat. In winter, turn off upstairs thermostat and control grill with the downstairs thermostat.
The other thermostat is stilled wired up? It won't work for 2 of them. completely disconnect the downstairs one.
You probably wired the thermostats surrounded by series,it isn't going to work one is going to override the other because any one can call for a function. "nosy" is right separate the functions I reflect this is the only course to get things working correctly.
