Is there a way to find out how deep i will need to drill a well?
Answers:
consult a local well sinking company.
It also depends on where you are in the country. close to the coast about 20 to 40 feet will get you a good well for lawn care. 120 to 150 feet for drinkable water. or you could go for an artesian well which can be a few hundred feet or so. typically the deeper the well the beter the water. if after yur well is sunk you have kind of a sulfer smell get an arieator it will get rid of te smell.

See what your neighbors' are up to with their wells. You can get a good indication by drawing a map of your neighborhood. However, it is certainly not an exact science.
Good luck!

In considering what the other fellows have posted I had always understood that water table level was something that determined how deep your well would be. That's, basically, how much the ground is saturated with water. In some cases, you have to drill really deeply before you can reach a satisfactory point to access enough water for usage. In other cases, the water table can exist just below the surface. And, again, I THOUGHT that this was a key in determining well depth, but I'm not 100% sure.
I'd imagine one of your local offices (browse your local yellow pages, the government listings) would be able to tell you the typical well depths for your neighborhood/area/region and/or what the water table is like in your area.
