How do i fit a shower tray?
Answers: hold the area inspected to see if it will support the immensity of the shower unit. And consequently take it from at hand. you should probably put down some exterior grade sheeting
You stipulation a firm base to fix the shower underside to, don't think tongue and groove boards are sturdy plenty.
You could cement it in place to grasp it level, but I fairly start with a even base and silicone it contained by place.
Just remember that you will be raising the rise of the tray, something to consider when you're tiling.
Don't forget an access point for the waste for adjectives possible problems.
Whether or not the existing floor will support the weight is dependent on a little variables. Is the T&G a finished floor over a subfloor? If so its plenty strong. IS the T&G old style floor sheathing (house would own to be at least 50 years old) and if its over 1" (25mm) gummy and are the floor joist 16" (450mm) oc if so, again its fine.
Assuming all or any this is true, proceed as follows, afterall shower basis (I'm guessing its acyrlic or fiberglass) do not at that much weight even when surrounded by use (shower, not bath tub). Since the floor/subfloor is T&G it will enormously slighly uneven, to compensate for this; bed the plinth on a thick covering of struct-o-lite (even though I watch Top Gear and Bargain Hunt regularly I'm sorry don't know the British equivelant, but google it and you'll know what you need). This will breed any differences in the floor surface and provide a stable platform across the remains unit.
