Have you tried a Fish Tape? It's a coil of flat flexible lead that you can put thru the hole you make and manufacture a loop on loose end and attach your cable to it and verbs it through the wall. But, to be safe, why not put a piece of conduit through the wall first, it will stop you from getting hung up.
