How much electricity is used each time I open and close my Genie chain glide garage door opener?

Can anyone help me with this power consumption question? How much electricity is used each time I open and close my Genie chain glide garage door opener? I would appreciate any help. Thanks.

Answers:
On the motor will be operating Volts,Amps or Watts. The power used is the Watts times the time used in hours/1000 (to get kilowatt hours).Which the power company bills you by. If it just has amps and volts on the label Watts=Amps X Volts.

Other answers:
1 volt
1 volt
It's a very small amount since the opener is not on continuously.
While it's on it is around the equivalent of a 25w light bulb.
Look on the opener (it will have a label giving you its specs horsepower and what not) it will give you the Amps.

Amps is the mesure of flow of electricity.
Are you concerned about how much this item costs to operate ? If so the amount of energy used is negligible, that's under normal use, if you
own a parking garage that is another story.
Depending upon where you live you could be paying say 15 cents per kilowatt hour for electricity and operate on a 120 volt system. That means for every 1,000 watts of consumption over one hour your bill would be 15 cents.

Your garage door opener may be a 1/2 hp model with an electrical draw of say 10 amps. Then your opener consumes about 1200 watts. So if your opener ran for an hour it would cost you 1.2 (kilowatts) times 15 cents or 18 cents. If it takes one minute for your door to open or close then your billable electrical consumption is roughly 18 cents divided by 60 or .003 cents.

In summary, it will cost you about a penny to open or close the door three times and that includes the light that normally comes on when the opener operates.
So little that you wouldn't notice it on your bill. I hope your not so poor that this is an issue.
pull on the chain to manually open it up and save the penny
