best care for hardwood floor ...wax, buffing?

Answers:
If it's REAL wood, then Murphys soap will work for cleaning, certainly a decent wood finish "wax" but will add build up over time, Finishing wood initially with a polyeurethane or some other penetrating oils made for wood, will work, but then will not need waxing. Light buffing with a soft pad wouldn't hurt strictly, but depending on floor size and substance I wouldn't use a machine.

Laminates are usually pre-finished and should need no more than cleaning.

In all, waxing will only add a substance that will collect residue, and the shine certainlay would need far more maintenance.

It depends on what finish is on the floor,, if its polyurethane then a damp mop and murphy's oil soap in a bucket of water,, don't soak the floors just mop with a sponge mop and no don't wax if its finished with polyurethane.
Check to see what finish then feel free to click my profile and mail me regarding care or ask at your local home store like Lowes or Home Depot.

buffing, it will shine after, dont do this if you have laminated floor
I like to use vinigara and water on my floors.
Do not use water on REAL hardwood floors. After a lot of time of using water it will start to look bad with water spots that will get into the seams of the floor and you will have to have the floors striped and refinished. Go to any store that sells real hardwoods and ask them for a non-water based floor cleaner. I have 3/4 inch white oak floors in my whole house and when we bought them we were told not to use water.
