how do i build a brick mailbox?

i want four brick pillars, one with a mailbox, to anchor a new wrought iron fence for my front yard

Answers:
I am assuming you know how to lay brick, so I would like to center my answer on the fact that you need to get below frost line (varies due to the part of the country you live in) with a concrete foundation for your project.

This is the number one cause of tilting brick columns/pillars you see.
If your foundation is below the frostline it will not heave and fall with the freezing and thawing.

You can do the nicest brickwork in the world,
the most ornate, square and straight
but if it is not on a foundation that will negate the heaving that the ground does from season to season,
your fine jobs' days are numbered.

GOOD LUCK
Check with the building code in your area or ask a knowledgable contractor.
Take care and Happy Fathers Day :-)
