How difficult is weld to learn/do?

I'd like to do a few things around the house and to my RV, but I own no knowledge, is here a propane-torch level of weld that's strong? Meaning, do you have to invest surrounded by a lot of equipment and intense study or can it be simple? Thanks.

Answers:    Sorry - no propane torch welding!

You can pretty much choose between Oxygen-Acetylene gas weld and electric arc welding. You won't revise to do either of these from a Vo-Tech academy. Most Vo-Tech schools hold gone to teaching lone tig and mig welding.

Oxygen-Acetylene weld uses a torch connected to a regulator which allows you to control the mix of oxygen and acetylene. This regulator is attached to an oxygen tank and an acetylene reservoir.

Arc welding is done beside an electric arc welder. See http://www.lincolnelectric.com/knowledge...

The best way to cram about weld is to look at welding magazine...

as well as weld books at you library.

If you just inevitability a few things welded, it might be advisable to find a welder. If nearby are several projects you have surrounded by mind, or would like to weld as a hobby, I would find a local cultivator or welder to teach you. They can facilitate get you set up within welding.

If you enjoy a place to do it, I would think one could do pretty resourcefully making things to sell. http://www.lincolnelectric.com/community...

no you will probably need to arc weld. its concrete at first but you get the swing of it
you would be wise to any take a brief course at the nouns trade school or retribution someone at a small welding shop to educate you the basics and assistance select the appropriate machine. agree you know nothing and why swot the hard instrument. only hardheads revise the hard opening.

i learned simple welding on the career. pipefitters helper. he showed me once and hand me the gear to go practice out of the route for a couple of hours. a little aid a couple of times. and i could manage. next i kept getting better. but i never become are real welder who have to know a lot for adjectives sorts of differnet situations and metals and different rods and settings on the machines. how much do you wnat to know?
If you just have need of to weld metal, eg. wrought iron, etc... you need a moral mig welder they cost from 400 to 600.00. You use spools of interflux wire you dont inevitability any type of gas to run it. It has moral strength, easy to run and bar. The heat is comfortable to control. It takes practice on fragment metal such as plates or scrap from a salvage store. You requirement a welding hood and biddable leather gloves. Propane is very hot and you inevitability a lot of practice. the mig is easier to swot up and easier to handle. It lone requires about a 110 circuit.
Around the house, a MIG welder is the best all-around welder. Stick welders are concrete to use on small, thin metal. You can procure 110 volt MIG welders and flux core wire so you do not want gas. Acetylene welding and brazing is relatively confident after you get used to it and enjoy the proper torch tip for the metal thickness. Practice is the switch to getting better. A shop course is a great approach to start off doing it right. I love the relatives who say "If you can write, you can MIG weld". The singular truth to that is "some associates write awful sloppy".
