What caring of nail should dance within the wall to swing a picture using sawtooth hanger?
this is my first time hanging a picture, any help/ suggestions much appreciated
Answers: The type of staple would depend on the weight of the frame etc. If it is heavier than a few pounds than you want to pin directly into a stud if the spacing allows. A 4d(penny) box nail will work fine. Other option are screws near anchors if your wall covering is drywall, or there are several types of glue hangers. Scotch Brand make some nice ones.
1. I would use nails that are at least possible one inch long, preferably ones with general heads such as that of a roofing staple.
2. You can cut a piece of wire and wrap/twist/tie one winding up around each sawtooth hanger, departure a little slack, and sledge hammer one nail (at least possible two inches long) at an upfacing angle into the wall (making sure that you are nailing into a stud, which you can locate by drumming along the wall until you here a solid thump) and hang the picture on that by the rope.
Don't use plain nails! Use picture hanger hooks. They are cheap and available at any hardware store, home center or department store. They work great for pictures up to roughly 75 lbs. They do very little violate to the wall if you decide to move the pictures.
You do not involve to find a stud for just a picture.
