Basement toilet is burping up gas. It have be raining really tricky outside adjectives sunshine. What do i do?
Answers: I had a similiar situation within a house. If it rained concrete there be "burping". It is a pre- warning that the sewage lines are over size. When this happens monitor closely as you may attain flooding( the excess water will find the lowest point surrounded by the line that can relieve the pressure) . If in attendance is a way to close of the drain form the toilet you can avoid it. We used to put a plastic cup that fit the pipe in the substructure of the bowl, and then put a pipe next to weight on top, to preserve the cup in place if at hand is backpressure in the flash.
I doubt that you can shut the drain to the toilet, but this is what we did in place of a costly silver in the plumbing.
phone up a plumber or ur gas company might be gas leak?
Do you own a pump or wet/dry vac? I would have any one handy. Are you on septic or city water?
I choice you well and lots of luck.
Flush some Rolaids down the toilet.
It would be surrounded by your best interest to read the atached info
Run
I'd follow the advice of Lori S., but I would be doing everything I could to take the water out of the bowl and style a"plug" out of wadded plastic wrap or paint tarp as well as freight the material.
In some areas if the sewers back-up in attendance can be considerable pressure and the clean-up costly/extensive.
Try a sand bag; It should conform to the outlet shape.
I would also see if the neighbors are experiencing alike.
Next I would be on the phone to the Municipal Water/Waste Dept. and inform them of the situation.
You might find that the sewer mains can be cleaned of jetsam.
Ask when they were ultimate maintained.
Go as far as to procure the local news involved if involve be.
Good Luck
Your septic is over full or your sewer line is plug
