How can I hide burn marks on wood?

Answers:
If sanding the entire piece is not an option you can simply take a tool like a screwdriver or something like it and sort of dig out the damaged area. This will leave a void in the wood where you can get some colored putty (minwax makes some, try to find one that matches pretty close to the stained wood color cause they accept stain differently than the wood and may not take the stain color right) then fill in the void in the wood you have created with the colored wood stain. Once filled lightly sand the area around it and do some touch up clear coating. Be sure to use several light coats of the clear coat you choose so that you can achieve the right finish without going overboard.

Sand it down and restain it (if we are talking about furniture) or buy a nice ornament to hide it.

it's tricky,if your good with your hands you can check out Star chemical or Mohawk chemical on the Internet.they sell lacquer sticks that are colored to match the wood.otherwise you need to find a furniture restorer.
It depends how deep the burn goes. If it is shallow, just sand and refinish. If it is very deep, you may need to paint.
This is a tricky one - having had similar problems myself!
You could either try and find a suitable polish to buff up the problem, or even get wood fake spray these days - just make sure it's of the right colour.
Failing that then you're left with the classic - cover with a strategically placed placemat or beermat and hopefully no-one will move it and notice the stain!
