Answers: The placement is important, but so too is the lighting at the back the lens, directed at any subject.
Most loss of features is caused by spinal column light against the subject, creating the subject to be sillouette/blacked out.
If your Q involves shooting show through a window, the windowpane would have to be coated non reflectively, or the cam lens would enjoy to be at the glass. If the intent is shooting within daylight you may still have the issue of backlight
You can install it when 2 inhabitants to do so. One inside and one outside. Until you get the right angle, you can do that, and not too close to your pane: not to be seen from outside.
